A school where every student is known.
Equity has remained deliberately small since its founding. With one class per grade, an average of twelve students in a room and never more than sixteen, teachers know each student's strengths, habits and pace — and can teach to them.
That familiarity is the point. Feedback is immediate. Expectations are personal. A student who is ready to move faster is stretched; a student who needs another explanation gets one, today. Nobody disappears into a crowd.
Small classes also make community possible. Students across grades know each other, and families know the faculty. It is a school built around relationships rather than systems.

Two school paths
One school, two stages.
A distinctive experience
Every student plays in the orchestra.
Orchestra is part of the curriculum at Equity, not an elective. Students begin learning the violin in first grade and may move to other instruments from fourth grade onward.
Music education builds teamwork, discipline and creativity — and asks students to read and interpret a second language of notation. The school orchestra prepares two concerts each year: Music in the Air in December and the Spring Program in late April.

Academic rigor
A college-preparatory U.S. curriculum taught in English, with a sustained emphasis on reading, writing, mathematics and critical thinking — coursework designed to challenge students and prepare them for university.

Small classes are not a feature at Equity; they are the model. A low student–teacher ratio means personalized feedback, flexible learning plans and teachers who know every student by name.

Integrity, respect and service are core values, not slogans. Students take part in community service and leadership throughout the year, and are expected to hold themselves to a written honor code.

Founded in 1988 at the request of U.S. families in Guatemala. Our accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of State for dependents of U.S. government employees.
