The practical details of a school year at Equity — calendar, school day, transportation, and the documents families rely on.
The school year
Calendar and school day.
- School year
- 180 school days, from the first week of August to the end of May.
- Breaks
- About one month from the Friday of the first week of December until the third or fourth of January, and the week before Easter.
- Pre-K & Kindergarten
- 7:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- Grades 1–12
- 7:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. On Tuesdays and Thursdays most students stay until 3:30 p.m. — Grades 7–10 for physical education, Elementary students for the after-school activities program.
Transportation
Small buses, tracked routes.
Equity runs small buses for easy movement and security through zones 9, 10, 13, 14 and 15, the Cayalá area of zone 16, and the El Salvador highway. Every bus has GPS tracking on board.
Drivers and monitors are experienced with children and stay in contact with the school throughout the route by radio and mobile phone.
Communication
You will hear from us every week.
Families receive a weekly email with announcements and highlights, and a detailed email each quarter describing what each class and grade will cover. Questions to the school or to a teacher are answered by email or phone.
